    “BANGS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP”

     RULES
  • SCHOLARSHIP NUMBER AND AMOUNT
    The amount of the scholarship awarded and the number of scholarships awarded shall be determined by the committee based upon the amount of the proceeds available.
    The scholarship shall be available to all qualified applicants regardless of ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, gender, age or handicapping conditions.

  • USE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
    The scholarship is to be awarded to worthy recipients who will pursue a course of study leading to a post-secondary degree or certificate from a college, university, vocational school or community college. The school where such studies are to be pursued shall be accredited and/or approved by the appropriate State Department of Education.

  • SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
    Applicants must be a member of the current year graduating class or a previous year graduate of Los Molinos High School, or had a parent, grandparent or great grandparent that attended or graduated from Los Molinos High School. Who has maintained at least a 2.0 grade point average in high school. A previous scholarship recipient may re-apply by providing transcripts or other official evidence verifying at least a 2.0 grade point average during post-secondary education. The re-application will be placed in a pool with the current applicants to be considered, but will be prioritized behind current first year candidates with equal qualifications.
    2. Precedence shall be determined based upon the merit and need of the candidates at the sole discretion of the Committee. In addition, an applicant who expresses an interest in music studies shall have priority.
 
  • SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
    1. Scholarship application forms may be secured from the Los Molinos High School. Completed applications must be submitted on or before April 15th of the year of the application in order to be considered for the scholarship.
    Should April 15th fall on a weekend or any day that the Los Molinos High School is not open for business, the scholarship application is due by 4:00 pm on the last day prior to April 15th when the Los Molinos High School is open.

    Prior recipients are required to submit an application annually with supporting data regarding school attendance to the Los Molinos High School before April 15th.

  • SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
    The scholarship committee shall be composed of the following:

    E.  Wesley Bangs
    F.  Chad Bangs
    G. Sam Bangs
    H. Jeanette Muir

    6.  Decisions rendered by the committee shall be final.
    7.  The scholarship committee may, at its discretion, include the high school principal, counselor, and/or district superintendent in meetings of the committee.
    8.  The scholarship committee may, at its discretion, interview applicants.
    9.  The scholarship committee may adopt additional rules and regulations, modify existing rules and regulations, or appoint other members to the committee by a majority vote of its members still living.
    10.  The scholarship committee at its discretion may award the funds to the LMUSD Music Program.

  • SCHOLARSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS
    The scholarship may be awarded annually if interest is available over the principal investment of $20,000.
    2.  The award may be used only to defray expenses incidental to the student’s attendance at a college, university, vocational school or community college.
    3.  The recipient must maintain at least a 9 semester unit load, or be certified as a full time student in a program leading to a degree or certificate in music. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average for all courses taken. Recipients must send official transcripts of record to the committee to verify that all requirements for continuation of the scholarship as outlined in this document are met.
     It is the responsibility of the recipient to secure this verification and submit it to the committee in a timely fashion, otherwise payment of the scholarship funds will be withheld. The scholarship is valid only while the recipient remains in good standing at the school of attendance.
    4.  The recipient will be paid on a semi-annual basis (typically in September and January) upon presentation of evidence of compliance with terms of the scholarship.
    The scholarship must be used in the semester or quarter immediately following its award, and the recipient must attend continuously without interruption, unless different arrangements are made with the scholarship committee.

The recipient must maintain a 2.0 grade point average for all courses taken.

The number of scholarships and Award amount varies year to year.

Required Materials
1.  Page # 1 – Cover sheet that includes the name of the scholarship and your name
2.  Page # 2 – Completed Application
3.  Page # 3 – Personal statement about yourself, long-term plans and goals, your achievements thus far in your education, and any obstacles or problems you have had to overcome so far in your life. Feel free to add any other information that you feel would help the scholarship committee make its decision.
4.  Page # 4 – Attach an unofficial copy of your current 7 semester transcripts
5.  Page # 5 – Attach signed terms and conditions of scholarship rules

**NOTE:  Students or parents may include a sealed explanation of any special problems or unusual circumstances which make it difficult to contribute towards this student’s continuing education.

AWARD SELECTION:
Award recipient will be notified to attend the Los Molinos High School Scholarship Award Program
 
DUE DATE:
Submit the completed application to the Los Molinos Counseling Office on or before
April 15th.
Late applications cannot be accepted.
BANGS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP AGREEMENT

  • The applicant named below has received a copy of the Bangs Family Scholarship Rules, has read these rules and understands his/her obligations and responsibilities.
 
  • The applicant understands that it is her/his responsibility to submit an application form for the scholarship annually by April 15th so the scholarship committee knows of her/his plans. Failure to submit the application will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
 
  • The applicant understands that if she/he fails to use the scholarship in the semester or quarter following receipt or interrupt her/his schooling, she/he may forfeit the scholarship unless application for postponement is approved by the selection committee.
